The Arches ‘Chatham’ Neighbourhood Forum (ACNF) is a group of local people working together to positively shape the future of Luton and central Chatham.
We’re creating a Neighbourhood Plan: a document that will guide where development should take place, what this should look like and how best it could benefit our local community. This document carries ‘statutory’ status, meaning it must be followed by Medway Council alongside the Medway Local Plan when considering whether to approve or refuse planning applications.
Despite Covid-19, we’re continuing our master planning journey with AECOM. The forum has joined AECOM on multiple digital walkabouts of the Luton area and has spent a significant amount of time looking at small interventions that will resonate into wider and greater change.
On Monday 21st October, the Arches ‘Chatham’ Neighbourhood Forum (ACNF) held their inaugural Annual General Meeting at Nucleus Arts Centre, Chatham.
It was fantastic to see so many members of our community (residents, businesses, elected officials and council officers) engaged in planning for our shared future. We filled all of our officer roles for the Management Committee, voted in our constitution and forum members show interested in being involved in our working groups. The forum also agreed that we should start with two working groups, working group 1 is expecting to cover the environment and public realm, whereas working group 2 will on the local economy, housing and wellbeing.
Following the Medway Council Cabinet meeting on the 6 August, 2019, just to let you all know the good news that our application for a Neighbourhood Forum and Neighbourhood Planning Area has been approved.
Taking into consideration conversations and point raised during our consultation event about our designated we are happy to report we have reflected these in the latest version of the proposed designated area (please see below) to be submitted to Medway Council.
