Heart of Chatham Visual Preference Survey

Across 4 days at Arches Local’s Fit & Fed programme, we asked young people to complete a visual preference survey focused on transport, outdoor space and street design.

More than 40 young people took part by placing a sticky dot under their preferred scenario of how they imagine the future of their neighbourhood.

The results showed that the young people had a clear preference towards moving about sustainably (e.g. walking, cycling and scootering), being able to access private and shared green spaces, and having people-friendly streets that are beautiful and green on their doorstep.

Their preferences will help shape our community-led vision and masterplan for a site in Chatham town centre, encompassing the former Go Outdoors superstore, market hall and multi-storey car park, as part of our Heart of Chatham programme.
